Accountants, tax and business advisers BKL are pleased to announce the expansion of their senior tax expertise with the appointment of Amanda Varrall as Head of Global Mobility, Tommy Roy as Private Client Tax Partner, and three specialist tax directors.
Amanda Varrall – Head of Global Mobility
Amanda Varrall’s three decades of tax experience have focused on expatriate and global mobility tax. Through her previous director roles in industry and practice, including the Big Four, Amanda provides employers of all sizes with a deep understanding of the tax and social security implications for internationally mobile employees. Amanda will be leading the growth of global mobility as a new, specialist area at BKL – presenting an exciting opportunity for new and existing clients, and for colleagues across the DFK alliance.
Tommy Roy – Private Client Tax Partner
Tommy Roy brings over 15 years of experience advising entrepreneurs and established families. His guidance enables business owners who are exploring sale, exit, relocation and succession to structure their family wealth tax-efficiently and adapt to their new circumstances. Tommy has joined BKL from S&W, having also worked at Big Four firms.
BKL has also welcomed senior specialists in tax risk & dispute resolution, tax transactions and tax operations, adding to its existing strength in these areas.
Piyush Patel – Tax Risk & Dispute Resolution Director
Piyush Patel has rejoined BKL after time at BDO. He applies over 20 years’ experience for individuals and businesses who are the subject of an investigation by HMRC, or who wish to resolve historical tax problems.
Anthony Spokes – Tax Transactions Associate Director
Anthony Spokes has joined BKL from PwC. He specialises in advising internationally mobile ultra high net worth individuals, family offices and sportspeople, bolstering BKL’s guidance for clients in these areas.
Chloé Palmer – BKL’s first Tax Operations Director
Chloé Palmer has joined as BKL’s first Tax Operations Director. This new role is an investment in providing the most efficient, proactive and innovative service to clients across all of BKL’s tax specialisms. Deploying over 15 years’ experience in tax advisory and operational leadership roles, Chloé is working closely with senior leaders at BKL, including Chief Operations Officer James Addison who joined BKL in 2025.
These external appointments to BKL’s tax team complement BKL’s promotion of Kate Gott to Corporate Tax Partner in January. They also build on the significant growth in BKL’s senior-level leadership and technical expertise in 2025, both within our tax team and across the business.
Stephen Baker, Employment Taxes Director, said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Amanda Varrall as BKL’s new Head of Global Mobility – a key appointment that reflects the team’s rapid growth and expansion in this evolving space.
Amanda’s background, spanning both practice and industry, gives her a unique perspective and deep technical understanding that will be invaluable to our clients, team and fellow members of DFK.
Amanda’s arrival strengthens BKL’s ability to support organisations navigating the complexities of global workforces – from compliance and risk to strategy and employee experience.”
