Shaw Gibbs Clients & Markets team have hired a new Administrative Assistant as part of the Governments Kickstart Scheme, an initiative which is designed to help people aged 16-24 into employment.

William Hicks who recently graduated from the University of Sheffield with a 2:1 in Chemistry started working with the team in January and is undertaking tasks such as; market research, prospect reporting and creating social media graphics.

The Shaw Gibbs team will support him by coaching on application and interview skills as well as developing transferable skills to increase his chances in the job market.

William comments

“I was interested in the role at Shaw Gibbs in order to add a professional environment to my work experience. My background is in organic, inorganic and physical chemistry and my ultimate aim is a job in a laboratory. The time I have spent with Shaw Gibbs so far has been really interesting and has enlightened me to how marketing in a professional services environment is carried out.

Shaw Gibbs has a great working culture and I have been made very welcome by the Clients & Markets team and the firm as a whole.

Gemma Lanning, Clients & Markets Executive and Line Manager for William adds:

Being able to help Will develop his skills for future employment has been very rewarding. I have already seen a significant increase in Wills confidence since starting at Shaw Gibbs and look forward to watching him grow during his time with us.

The Kickstart scheme is a fantastic opportunity to help support young people back into work and it’s great to have the chance to help Will achieve this.”
