Sandy joined CBW on 4 January as VAT Partner which further strengthens CBW’s VAT team. Sandy will become the fifth Partner in the CBW tax team, joining Tom Adcock, Head of Tax, and Tax Partners: Michaela Lamb, Toby Hermitage and Martina Fitzgerald.
Sandy’s career in VAT, which spans nearly 35 years, has an unusual split between working over 13 years in industry, and a further 20 working in practice. Before joining CBW, Sandy worked in some of the top ten accountancy firms, supporting large multinational corporations, as well as OMBs, with all their UK and international VAT requirements. There are few people in Sandy’s position in the UK who can rival the experience of having worked both in industry and in practice, and who have that deep understanding of VAT from both sides.
Sandy’s wide-ranging experience within VAT means she has been able to advise across every sector, with both domestic and cross border issues. She has a particular specialism in dealing with clients within the travel and tourism, property and financial services sectors.
Sandy joins CBW to further strengthen its award winning tax team. Sandy’s arrival will support CBW’s larger clients who have international structures and, due to the nature of the sectors that they sit within and jurisdictions in which they operate, have more complex VAT and tax requirements. The ongoing growth of CBW’s tax team reflects the demands of its client base, and as a full service firm and a member of DFK International, the 7th largest association worldwide of independent accounting firms and business advisors, CBW rivals many of the larger firms in its ability to support multinational clients.
Tom Adcock, Head of Tax at CBW said: “There are few individuals who can match the talents that Sandy has when it comes to VAT, both in her highly technical abilities but also the way in which she works with her clients. The experience that Sandy brings with her to support our UK and cross border clients is very exciting, and will help us with our continued growth.”
Sandy Cochrane: “I am excited by CBW’s client base and the opportunity for me to support some of CBW’s larger and fast growth clients. DFK International also means that we can look after international clients with highly complex VAT issues with complete confidence. I am excited to join a team of such talented individuals and the hands on approach that CBW gives to its clients reflects the way I also like to work with my clients.”
