Doing Business in America
August 4, 2017
Two DFK International member firms joined forces to share knowledge at a seminar in London.
Leading accountancy firm Carter Backer Winter (CBW) has held a ‘Doing Business in America’ conference at its offices in London.
Held in conjunction with HSBC, the event welcomed Ben Miller and James Parks from accountancy firm Bennett Thrasher, based in Atlanta, to speak about business in the USA.
Ben, Partner at Bennett Thrasher, and James, Director in the firm’s Tax Practice, covered topics including international tax, transfer pricing and cultural differences.
The collaboration between the two DFK International member firms came after CBW was invited to speak at a ‘Doing Business in Europe’ event in Atlanta hosted by Bennett Thrasher last year.
CBW Managing Partner Peter Winter said: “Last autumn we were asked to speak at Bennett Thrasher’s Doing Business in Europe seminar, so we asked if they would reciprocate and take part in a Doing Business in America seminar at our offices in London.
“We held the event in conjunction with HSBC and invited our clients and theirs. It was very informative and we have received some excellent feedback from those in attendance.
“It not only gave attendees the chance to learn more about doing business in America, but also provided a good networking opportunity.
“For us the event demonstrates DFK as a serious organisation and shows that we can help with international business. We would like to thank both Ben and James for speaking at the seminar.”
Ben Miller added: “Both myself and James speak regularly at DFK events, and this was one of the best seminars I’ve been part of.
“There was good attendance from a diverse group of companies and there was also a good follow-on discussion.
“Part of DFK International’s goal is to share knowledge across its member firms and learn from one another, so we were more than happy to be part of the seminar.
“The event was very well-received and the information we provided was of interest to those in attendance. It was also nice to see Pierre Gargatte from our DFK International firm in Hong Kong as well as DFK International executive director Martin Sharp take time out to attend the event.”
